Solicitor

Katelan Philpott is a Solicitor at Cheney Suthers Lawyers, having been admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales on 13 March 2026. She works across the firm’s full range of practice areas including family law, property law, conveyancing, commercial and business law, litigation and estate planning, gaining broad practical experience under the guidance of the firm’s senior solicitors.

Katelan graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2025 with a First Class Honours Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Diploma of Legal Practice, alongside a Bachelor of Business, a combination that gives her a strong command of both legal principle and commercial application.

Before entering legal practice, Katelan brought that commercial acumen to a role as a Commercial Logistics Officer at Glencore from 2023 to 2025, where she worked within a specialised team responsible for the negotiation, analysis, execution and administration of commercial relationships with port, rail and haulage service providers across Australian operations. Her responsibilities spanned both day-to-day contract management and long-term strategic decision-making, experience that translates directly into her work across commercial and business law matters at Cheney Suthers.
