Ellen Jones is a Senior Associate Solicitor at Cheney Suthers Lawyers, practising in family law, conveyancing, property law and industrial relations in New South Wales. Admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales on 3 July 2015, Ellen brings a decade of legal experience and a genuine commitment to her clients to every matter she handles.

Ellen’s path to law is distinctive. Before completing her Bachelor of Laws in 2014, she worked as a court reporter for Rural Press and Fairfax Media, an experience that gave her an early and intimate understanding of the legal system and the real impact that legal proceedings have on the lives of ordinary people. That background as a communicator continues to define her practice today. Ellen is known for her ability to explain complex legal issues in plain English, ensuring her clients always understand where they stand and what their options are.

In family law, Ellen’s focus is on helping clients reach practical, cost-effective resolutions that avoid the need for litigation wherever possible. Her calm and compassionate approach puts clients at ease during what can be an incredibly stressful period, and her experience spans both property and parenting matters from initial advice through to final hearings in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.

Ellen has assisted thousands of clients across New South Wales to buy and sell property, with experience spanning residential conveyancing, rural conveyancing, intergenerational property transfers and off the plan contracts. Her focus is on delivering a smooth, stress-free transaction through timely and clear communication with clients, agents and colleagues at every stage of the process.

Ellen also advises employers and employees on workplace matters including enterprise agreements, unfair dismissal claims and discrimination, bringing the same practical, plain-English approach to her industrial relations work.

Outside of the office, Ellen is a keen dancer, occasional jogger and proud mother of three.
