Alice Byrnes – Acc. Spec. (Family)

DIRECTOR

FAMILY, COMMERCIAL & COLLABORATIVE LAWYER

Trained as a commercial litigator, Alice has a broad range of legal experience in matters including family law, commercial litigation and dispute resolution, employment law, wills and estates, property and retail leasing disputes, contractual disputes, bankruptcy and insolvency, and debt recovery.

Alice Byrnes is an Accredited Specialist in Family Law.

From the outset, Alice’s approach to all matters, particularly in family law, is to look for a resolution that will prevent litigation. Alice’s dispute resolution includes mediations and conciliations, settlement conferences and the drafting of related deeds of settlement and releases, consent orders, binding child support agreements and financial agreements.

In addition to her private family law practice, Alice is an Independent Children’s Lawyer (ICL). An ICL represents the children’s best interests in family law parenting Court proceedings. When appointed by the Court as an ICL in a parenting case, Alice will read all the affidavits and subpoenaed documents, meet and talk with the children in the case, talk to the family consultant and other relevant people. As ICL, Alice will form an independent view of what is in the best interests of the children and present it to the Court.

Alice has a Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications) Degree from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of New South Wales. Before moving to Sydney for her tertiary studies, Alice grew up in Orange and was raised on an apple orchard/family farm at Spring Side.
