As an experienced commercial lawyer, Kirsty is focused on assisting her clients to proactively manage their business legal responsibilities whilst gaining an advantage over competitors. Kirsty provides advice on business planning, formation and restructure, asset protection, directors’ duties and business succession. This includes preparation of shareholder agreements, commercial contracts, sale and purchase agreements as well as financing documents for a variety of enterprises.
Kirsty’s major interest is to assist her commercial clients and their financial advisors to plan and implement strategies to build, manage and exit from profitable businesses.
Kirsty commenced her legal career in 2009 as a commercial litigator in Sydney and has attained a Masters of Law (Applied Law) majoring in Commercial Litigation. She has acted in commercial litigation matters which broadly include business separation and shareholder disputes.
In her role as a property lawyer, Kirsty provides advice on all facets of a property transaction including due diligence, acquisition, development and disposal of property. Her experience includes advising in relation to subdivision and development of land (including drafting master contracts for “off the plan’” sales) preparation of section 88B instruments, advising in relation to rural property transactions (including water purchases and sales) and drafting retail and commercial leases.
In May 2024, Kirsty gave evidence in the Australian Parliamentary Inquiry into Insurers’ Responses to 2022 major floods claims with the House Standing Committee on Economics adopting several of Kirsty’s recommendations for change in the Report. In September 2024, Kirsty won the Outstanding Business Leader of the Year in the Business Orange Awards. On 6 December 2024, Kirsty was the recipient of the prestigious President’s Medal at the Law Society of NSW‘s Annual Members Dinner and Awards Night. Kirsty received recognition for her significant pro bono work for her local community during the November 2022 flood and storm event in Molong, NSW, securing more than $1 million in insurance payouts and grants. On 22 October 2024, the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age published Kirsty’s opinion piece, “After 18 months of battling, I’ve lost any faith I once had in our insurance industry.” Kirsty has given multiple interviews and commentary on all Australian major media outlets in relation to the insurers’ responses to policy holders during the flood and storm event. In 2024, Kirsty was also a Finalist in the national Women In Law Awards for Not for Profit, Pro Bono or Community Legal Centre Lawyer of the Year.
In March 2025, Kirsty was awarded NSW Regional Woman of the Year 2025 as part of the NSW Women of the Year Awards. This award recognises Kirsty’s advancement of her community and contribution to the fabric of her local area.
In April 2025, Kirsty was announced as a Regional Finalist in the category of Outstanding Business Leader over 36 for the 2025 Western NSW Business Awards. This award category recognises an inspirational business leader aged 36 or over who has demonstrated a commitment to their workplace, industry, and the community through leadership. Winners will be announced on Friday 16 May 2025.
Away from the office, Kirsty carries on a family farming enterprise with her husband. Her interest outside of the law has resulted in Kirsty working with a number of rural families to plan the future of the farming enterprise and family farm.
